Experimental Modal Analysis

Experimental modal analysis (EMA) presents a sophisticated analysis method in the area of structural dynamical measuring technology. It is aimed at the determination of the decisive vibration properties of machines and components, i. e.

  • natural frequencies,
  • mode shapes and
  • modal damping ratios.

Especially when dealing with structures showing non-linear properties we possess special methodological know-how for conducting EMAs.

Measuring and Testing

For this purpose there is comprehensive measuring and testing equipment at our disposal:

  • 40-channel data aquisition system with sample- and hold-function,
  • corresponding equipment of acceleration sensors,
  • laser-scanning vibrometer,
  • various impulse hammers and shakers for excitation purposes,
  • 3D-digitizer for the geometric measuring of structural and measuring points,
  • vibration-free foundation for the setting of the test specimens,
  • devices for the "free-free" suspension of the test specimens.
