Seating Comfort - objectifiable and predictable

Comfort is more and more brought into focus - as diversification characteristic and brand-determining element of the automotive manufacturers. The seat which presents the structural component "next to the vehicle occupant" is of decisive importance. The developers, however, are confronted with the following questions:

  • How can comfort be determined so that an objective and comparative assessment is possible?
  • How can comfort be predicted at early design stages - before manufacturing expensive seat prototypes?

Here Wölfel with its competence in methodology gets involved and develops methods and tools that will make the mechanical aspects of seating comfort, i. e. statics and vibrations, determinable and thus assessable, but also predictable.

For this purpose, our vibration dummies - the physical dummy MEMOSIK® and the numerical vehicle occupant model CASIMIR are our major tools.

Our Scope of Services

  • Static and dynamic comfort simulations
  • Parameter studies at seat constructions
  • H-point and backset-simulation
  • Comfort benchmarks: Static and dynamic seating comfort
  • Experimental Modal Analysis at seats and structures
  • Realization of complete development packages for seating comfort
  • Development and manufacture of individual comfort testing systems
