Experimental Modal Analysis of Seats

Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) presents a sophisticated analysis method in the area of structural dynamical measuring technology. It is aimed at the determination of the decisive vibration properties of car seats, i.e.

  • eigenfrequencies
  • natural modes and
  • modal damping ratios.

Due to non-linear properties of seats, a special process know-how is required in this case. We are proficient in modal analysis of

  • seat structures, i.e. no cushion and
  • completely cushioned seats.

Measuring and Testing

EMA: Transducer Application

For this purpose there is comprehensive measuring and testing equipment at our disposal:

  • 40-channel data acquisition system with sample- and hold-function,
  • corresponding equipment of small and light 3-D acceleration sensors,
  • laser-scanning vibrometer,
  • various impulse hammers and shakers for excitation purposes,
  • 3D-digitizer for the geometric measurement of structural and measuring points,
  • vibration-free foundation for the setting of the test specimens.
