Seat Modelling
The design of a finite element seat-model represents the basis of each comfort simulation consisting of
- seating structure including kinematics, adjusting mechanism and joints
- supporting springs below seat and behind backrest cushion
- molded foam parts, including padding (if applicable)
- seat cover and trim
We carry out precise modeling and all material tests, which are required for simulation of the foam and cover material.
Occupant Model CASIMIR
CASIMIR, representing typical static and dynamic features of an occupant, which is displayed by percentiles f05, m50 or m95, is then sitting down on the seat model.
This so called "seating process" simulation (non linear geometry, with friction) produces repeatable mechanical results, providing a basis for an assessment of the static seating comfort.
Results
- pressure distributions on seat cushion and backrest
- local deformation of the seat as well as of the body surface
- "Meat-To-Metal", distance between body surface and metal structure while seating
- static forces acting in the lumbar spine
- posture dependent muscle forces
- ...
