No loss of yield due to unnecessary downtime: Learn more about efficient ice detection in our case study and at Winterwind 2020

In recent years, the monitoring of the vibration behavior has proven to be a safe and efficient method for ice detection and is much more reliable than an assessment based on meteorological parameters. In daily operation, this results in a significant reduction of downtimes without compromising safety. Thanks to our IDD.Blade® ice detection system, the potential of the Hamwiede wind farm in Lower Saxony can now be fully exploited at all times of the year: "IDD.Blade already exceeded our expectations in the first winter after installation. The system detects ice so precisely that the assumed amortization period was not even reached", says Michael Rückert, the wind farm operator. Learn more about this exciting project in our new Case Study and at Winterwind 2020.

We look forward to meeting you at the Wölfel Wind Systems booth (No. 24) in Åre, Sweden, between 3 and 5 February. In addition to our ice detection system, you can also get to know our Structural Health Monitoring systems SHM.Foundation®, SHM.Tower® and SHM.Blade® for the holistic monitoring of wind turbines and our Structural Intelligence concept. Besides, our wind energy experts Carsten Ebert and Bernd Wölfel are featured in the comprehensive seminar and lecture program:

  • Effect of heavy rotor blade icing to life-time consumption of tower and foundation
Session Structural monitoring: Tuesday, 4 February, 16:30–18:00
    Dr.-Ing. Carsten Ebert
  • Blade based ice detection IDD.Blade – Efficient operation in cold climate
Session Ice detection: Tuesday, 4 February, 16:30–18:00
    Dipl.-Ing. Bernd Wölfel
